Marbled Coffee Cake

A while ago I have already posted the recipe 'Marble Green tea cake'. I have to admit I really like this recipe as it is easy, airy and you can even reduce the sugar (as I did in the ingredient list below) to make it less sweet and it is not changing the consistency of the cake once baked.
But the other day I came across a marble coffee cake recipe. Although I keep the base of of my original marble cake, I have just replaced the green tea powder (matcha) by cacao mixed with instant coffee.

Marbled Coffee cake

Ingredients:
225g butter, softened
180g caster sugar
16g vanilla sugar
4 eggs
200g self-rising flour
3 tbsp milk
1 tbsp cacao powder
1.5 tbsp instant coffee

1. heat oven to 180 degrees
2. beat the butter and sugar together, then add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition
3. fold through the flour and milk until the mixture is smooth
4. divide the mixture between 2 bowls. Mix the cacao powder and instant coffee and stir into the mixture in one of the bowls
5. take 2 spoons and use them to dollop the chocolate/coffee and vanilla cake mixes into the tin alternately
6. when all the mixture has been used up tap the bottom on your work surface to ensure that there aren't any air bubbles
7. take a skewer and swirl it around the mixture in the tin a few times to create a marbled effect
8. bake the cake for 45-55 mins until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean. Turn out onto a cooling rack and leave to cool.
